CRMconnect + SmartBill - operations at the source, billing where you like it

SmartBill stays your billing and accounting tool. CRMconnect adds multi-channel orders, warehouse, EDI with major retailers and e-Transport - and pushes the final invoices into SmartBill via API. Zero change for your accountant.

  • Keep SmartBill for billing and e-Invoice SPV
  • CRMconnect delivers correct data at the source (OMS + WMS + EDI)
  • Bidirectional API: invoices, customers, products, payments
  • Zero accounting migration, zero new training for the accountant

Using SmartBill for invoicing and e-Invoice? Excellent. You don't need to change a thing. SmartBill is one of the best cloud billing platforms in Romania - modern UX, native e-Invoice SPV, cashier, payments, all easy to use. For a company with <50 invoices/month, no complex warehouse, no major retailers with EDI and no field agents, SmartBill alone is enough.

The problem appears as the business grows: 200+ orders/month from 4-5 channels (eMAG, Amazon, B2B portal, field agent, EDI Carrefour), warehouse with 3-5 operators, e-Transport generated manually, returns lost in Excel. SmartBill isn't built for that - and doesn't want to be. This is where the CRMconnect operational layer comes in: we handle everything that happens before the invoice, push final invoices into SmartBill via API, and the accountant keeps working in SmartBill as usual.

What SmartBill does very well - and why we keep it

  • Modern cloud billing - invoice in 30 seconds, professional templates, mobile-friendly
  • Native e-Invoice SPV - automatic XML UBL 2.1 RO_CIUS upload, no extra steps
  • Cashier and payments - receipts, multi-payments, basic stock
  • Bank integration - statement import, automatic reconciliation
  • Huge community - ~150,000 users in Romania, excellent documentation
  • Accessible pricing - €10-30/month, no aggressive limits

How we work together - concretely

1

Scenario 1 - FMCG distributor using SmartBill for billing

CRMconnect runs OMS + WMS + EDI + e-Transport. At shipment marking, WMS generates AWB, transport note with e-Transport UIT and DESADV to the retailer. At the end, CRMconnect pushes the invoice via API into SmartBill (with lines, prices, contracted discounts). SmartBill sends it to SPV. The accountant opens SmartBill as usual - sees all invoices, nothing changed.

2

Scenario 2 - SMB with SmartBill that grew past operational capacity

You have 300 orders/month from 3 channels (own site, eMAG, phone). You add CRMconnect WMS + B2B Portal. Orders enter WMS, picking on scanner, AWB Sameday/Cargus generated, invoice automatically pushed into SmartBill. Zero billing disruption, but +40% warehouse productivity and -90% picking-error returns.

3

Scenario 3 - Company with field agents and SmartBill

Agents use CRMconnect SFA on tablet (offline-first). Order with contracted price per customer → orders sync into OMS → when delivered, invoice generated in SmartBill via API. The agent sees in real time customer history, available stock, outstanding payments. Back office changes nothing in SmartBill.

Our doctrine: SmartBill is an ally, not a competitor

CRMconnect is not a billing platform. We are an operational layer that embraces the SmartBill, Oblio, Saga ecosystem and 50+ other local tools. Our international scaling strategy is based on exactly that: we integrate with as many local billing platforms as possible, so the client company doesn't have to change anything that works.

Accountants and accounting firms working with SmartBill are our natural allies. We make their lives easier (cleaner data at the source, fewer questions at month-end, faster filings), not force them to learn a new system.

If you and your team are comfortable with SmartBill, keep it. Add only what SmartBill doesn't do - operations, warehouse, EDI, e-Transport, B2B portal - and benefit from the ANAF Fiscal Hub so data arrives clean in SmartBill, not patched manually at month-end.

Do you need CRMconnect on top of SmartBill?

  • You have >100 orders/month from >2 channels and lose time consolidating them
  • You have a warehouse with >2 operators still working on paper or Excel
  • You work with >1 major retailer (Carrefour, Lidl, Kaufland) and get chargebacks
  • You have field agents and still send catalogs by email/WhatsApp
  • You generate >20 e-Transports/day manually
  • You need a B2B portal for direct customers (24/7 ordering)
If you tick ≥2, the CRMconnect layer on top of SmartBill delivers ROI in <6 months - and SmartBill stays where it is.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to give up SmartBill?

No. CRMconnect connects via API on top of SmartBill, without changing anything in it. The accountant keeps working in SmartBill exactly as before.

How are invoices synced?

CRMconnect pushes final invoices (with lines, prices, discounts, customer data) via API to SmartBill. SmartBill receives them, sends them to SPV for e-Invoice, and puts them into accounting. Sync in <1 second.

What data syncs in both directions?

Bidirectional: customers (tax ID, address, terms), products (code, name, price, VAT), invoices (head + lines), payments (reconciled receipts). Stock stays in CRMconnect WMS (real-time, multi-warehouse), not in SmartBill (which has basic stock).

How much does CRMconnect cost on top of SmartBill?

From €20/user/month (Essential) for CRMconnect modules (OMS, WMS, EDI, e-Transport, B2B Portal, SFA). SmartBill stays at their price (€10-30/month). See full pricing.

Does my accountant need to learn anything new?

No. Your accountant keeps working in SmartBill. Their benefit: receives cleaner data (fewer errors, fewer questions at month-end).
